Cold weather advisory with wind chills hitting -20 in effect
The National Weather Service on Monday afternoon issued a cold weather advisory for northeast Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania, including Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties.
The advisory runs from 7 p.m. Monday until noon Tuesday.
Extremely cold and dangerous wind chills as low as 15 to 20 below zero are expected overnight.
The weather service advises the wind chills overnight could result in hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken.
It also advises to use caution while traveling outside and to wear appropriate clothing, including a hat and gloves to minimize potential dangers.
Many school districts throughout the region have canceled classes for Tuesday.
