Youngstown police officer shot
YOUNGSTOWN – A Youngstown police officer suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound today on the city’s South Side.
Andy Resnick, the city’s spokesman, said an unidentified officer was shot in the area near East Midlothian Boulevard between South Avenue and Southern Boulevard this afternoon.
The officer was transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
The incident occurred inside a house on the city’s South Side.
The suspect’s location wasn’t known, Resnick said.
Schools in the area of the shooting implemented a “controlled release” of students today, Resnick said.
Residents in the vicinity of the area were urged to remain in their homes to allow police to handle the situation.
