Lordstown joins $500 billion AI data center project
Lordstown has been selected as one of five new artificial intelligence data centers in the United States as part of the $500 billion, four-year Stargate project. OpenAI, Oracle and SoftBank made the announcement Wednesday in an online news release.
Japan-based SoftBank said it has broken ground on an advanced data center design at the former GM auto assembly plant. It is expected to be operational next year.
SoftBank purchased the facility from Foxconn last month in a $375 million deal. The Taiwanese company said it will remain at the plant long term and focus on its AI data center development.
