Bob Dylan coming to Powers Auditorium
Before he hits the road this summer with Willie Nelson and his Outlaw Music Festival, Bob Dylan will play Youngstown’s Powers Auditorium on April 19.
The 83-year-old singer-songwriter was the first musician to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, and he also received a special citation from the Pulitzer Prize for his contributions to popular culture and music and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He has 10 Grammy Awards (out of 38 nominations) and has been inducted into Rock & Roll and Songwriters halls of fame.
“A Complete Unknown,” a film about Dylan’s early years in New York City and his switch from acoustic folk singer to electric-guitar-playing rocker, currently is in theaters and is nominated for eight Academy Awards.
Dylan last performed in Youngstown in 2018 at the Covelli Centre, where he also played in 2012. He performed at Stambaugh Auditorium in 1992.
Tickets for the 8 p.m. show range from $75.50 to $181.50 and will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the DeYor Performing Arts Center box office, online at experienceyourarts.org and by calling 330-259-9651. VIP packages also are available ranging from $411.50 to $731.50.
The concert is a “phone-free” experience. Use of cellphones, cameras and recording devices is prohibited, and all concertgoers will have to secure their phone in a Yondr pouch before entering the theater. Anyone seen using a phone during the performance will be escorted out.
Also announced Monday was the first leg of the Outlaw Music Festival, which will include a June 21 date at Blossom Music Center. Joining Willie Nelson & Family and Dylan on the bill in Cuyahoga Falls will be Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers and Myron Elkins. Tickets for that show go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday through Live Nation.
