Group submits proposal to acquire Trumbull Regional

WARREN — The group that operates residency programs at Trumbull Regional Medical Center has submitted a proposal to Steward Health Care to acquire the hospital and certain affiliates, and it has pulled together $20.5 million to keep them open until ownership officially changes hands.

Western Reserve Health Education Inc. filed the proposal in an amended objection to closure notices Steward Health filed Aug. 21. The court papers filed Thursday also ask for an emergency hearing no later than 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The document states Trumbull Regional, outpatient facilities in Austintown and Bazetta, and a clinic in Hubbard would be part of the transaction. Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital is not included.

Western Reserve Health Education submitted the asset purchase agreement Wednesday. The court papers filed Thursday state the organization is “currently awaiting a response” from Steward Health.
