Man, 19, shot to death Tuesday night on East Judson Avenue

YOUNGSTOWN — A man, 19, was shot to death in the 500 block of East Judson Avenue on the South Side on Tuesday night, and the 17-year-old suspect’s family turned him in “at the same time,” according to Youngstown police.

Officers responded at 10:10 p.m. for a shooting and found the victim laying in the driveway on East Judson Avenue with a gunshot wound. Officers began chest compressions until ambulance personnel arrived and took the victim to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

“At the same time, additional officers responded to a call for service regarding the suspect from that shooting being turned over to police by family members,” according to a Youngstown police press release.

Detectives interviewed multiple people, including the suspect, and it was determined that the suspect would be arrested and taken to the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center.

Detectives learned this morning that the victim died overnight.

The homicide is the tenth homicide of the year in Youngstown. There were 22 homicides in all of 2022 in the city.
