SMITH TOWNSHIP -- An unidentified female pedestrian was killed in a 9:03 p.m. crash Wednesday on Alliance Sebring Road between Alliance and Sebring.
The female was walking east on Alliance Sebring Road near Oyster Road when an unknown sport utility vehicle also traveling east struck her, according to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Canfield Post. The pedestrian landed in a watery ditch while the SUV continued eastbound.
The release stated, the pedestrian was taken to Aultman Hospital in Canton, where she was pronounced dead.
The Highway Patrol is "working to identify the female pedestrian and contact next of kin," according to the release. Anyone with information is asked to call the Canfield Post of the Highway Patrol at 330-533-6866.
The SUV has possible damage to the front right of the vehicle, the Highway Patrol stated. The crash remains under investigation.
Agencies assisting on scene were Sebring Police Department, Smith Township Police Department and Smith Township Fire and EMS.
