Youngstown police arrest man wanted in Dec. 10 city homicide

Jonthany Altreche

YOUNGSTOWN — Jonthany Altreche, 19, who is charged with a Dec. 10 Youngstown murder, was booked into the Mahoning County jail this morning after Youngstown police arrested him on the South Side Saturday night.

Altreche was charged Dec. 15 with murder in the shooting death of Ty’Rice Logan, 26, who was found outside of Miss Daisy’s Place, 2210 South Ave., near the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. Logan later died from his injuries.

The Youngstown Police Department announced Dec. 27 that a warrant had been issued for Altreche’s arrest in Logan’s death. Police said Altreche should be considered armed and dangerous. Altreche’s charge carries a possible penalty of 15 years to life in prison if convicted.

Altreche is expected to be arraigned in Youngstown Municipal Court on Monday.

On Saturday night, the Youngstown Police Department Neighborhood Response Unit saw a person in a black BMW commit a traffic violation on or near Wilson Avenue, Youngstown police stated in a Sunday morning press release.

While attempting to stop the vehicle, a short pursuit took place, culminating in a non-injury crash. The NRU then arrested Altreche from the BMW.

Altreche was taken to the Youngstown Police Department Detective Division to speak with investigators. He was then taken to the Mahoning County jail on the murder charge.
