Ph.D. candidate found guilty of attempted murder of woman
YOUNGSTOWN — A jury found Davelle Heath guilty of attempted murder and felonious assault, plus gun specifications, today in the March 21, 2022, shooting of a woman outside of her home on Truesdale Avenue on the East Side.
Heath, 28, who is originally from Youngstown but has been working on his PhD in England, was taken into custody and his bond was revoked pending sentencing in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
He could get about 20 years in prison when Judge Anthony D’Apolito sentences him at a later date. Heath took the stand early Wednesday to talk about his education, the reasons he was in Youngstown for a couple of days at the time of the shooting and the fact that he and his mother lived with the victim for a few years before he left Youngstown as a boy.
