Thu. 4 p.m.: East High locked down at end of school day
YOUNGSTOWN – The Youngstown Police Department confirmed that a lockdown took place this afternoon at East High School.
A police supervisor said there was an “altercation” at the school, but it was over. It was about 3:35 p.m. at the time of the statement.
No other details were provided, and a call to the public information office for the school district was not immediately returned.
When a reporter arrived at the school at about 3:30 p.m., a few students were leaving the building’s parking lot entrance under the supervision of school officials.
About five Youngstown police cruisers were in the road close to the building, but they were leaving the school a few minutes later. There were still about 30 cars in the parking lot about 3:50 p.m.
