A 22-year-old man is dead after a shooting in the South Side of Youngstown Saturday morning.

A Youngstown Police Department press release stated officers were called to the 1900 block of East Midlothian Boulevard after receiving calls of gunfire. Upon arrival on the scene, officers and EMTs began life-saving measures on the victim. He was transported to Mercy Health, where he succumbed to his injuries. Youngstown Police have not yet identified the victim.

The press release further stated the investigation is ongoing and there is no other information available at this time. There is no suspect in custody.

Youngstown police say that the crime took place in a well-traveled portion of East Midlothian and that there is a likelihood that someone was near the area when the crime occurred. They are asking for the community to pass any information along so that they can further their investigation.
