Man arrested in Oct. 26 murder of Beloit woman
SMITH TOWNSHIP — A township man is in the Mahoning County jail on a murder charge connected to the Oct. 26 homicide of Gena M. Wade of Beloit.
Mahoning County Sheriff Jerry Greene confirmed Sunday that Nicholas Cunningham, 31, was arrested Friday afternoon in connection to the murder of Wade, 44, at her home in the 18000 block of Courtney Road, just north of the village. An ambulance, township police and the sheriff’s office were called to the home around 3 p.m. Oct. 26 for an unknown medical call.
When first responders arrived, they found Wade dead, according to a news release from the township police department. Assistance then was requested from the Mahoning County Homicide Task Force and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation,
Along with the murder charge, Cunningham also is facing one count each of violating a protection order and aggravated burglary.
Greene said he could not release further details because the investigation is ongoing.
