Perrotta named new director at Ballet Western Reserve

'Nutty Night Out' ballet fundraiser set for this evening

Danielle Perrotta is the new executive director and artistic director of Ballet Western Reserve.

The New Castle, Pa., native has nearly 20 years of experience as a dance educator and school director. She earned her bachelor's degree in dance from Slippery Rock University

According to Perrotta, “It is an immense honor to lead Ballet Western Reserve as the Executive/Artistic Director. I am deeply committed to fostering an environment of artistic growth and innovation. Together with the talented team at Ballet Western Reserve, I look forward to enriching the cultural landscape of Youngstown and beyond through the transformative power of dance."

Perrotta will produce, choreograph and direct this year's production of "The Nutcracker," which will be staged Dec. 2 and 3 at Powers Auditorium in Youngstown. It will be performed by more than 60 students between the ages of 4 and 18.

According to BWR board President Kim Riddle, "We are excited and fortunate to be able to show the community what Ballet Western Reserve can do."

Ballet Western Reserve is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), which means all the operational costs are raised by the community, parents, and donors.

Ballet Western Reserve will have a "Nutty Night Out" fundraiser from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight at Inner Circle Poland, 1816 Boardman-Poland Road. The event will include basket raffles, a 50 / 50 raffle and celebrity bartenders, and proceeds will go toward the cost of producing "The Nutcracker."
