YOUNGSTOWN — A one-year contract between the Youngstown Education Association and the Youngstown Board of Education was ratified earlier today in separate meetings.
The YEA met at 3:30 p.m. and approved the deal, which was reached Saturday afternoon after a marathon bargaining session on Friday. School board members approved the contract at a special meeting at 4:30 p.m. at Choffin Career and Technical Center.
Teachers had been on strike since Aug. 23, which is when classes were supposed to begin. Students were doing remote learning while teachers were on the picket line.
Students and staff returned to the classrooms today.
More details on what the contract entails will be released later this evening.
