According to Hubbard Township police Chief Ronald Fusco, several road signs have been stolen or damaged in the last two weeks.
Fusco stressed the danger that arises when signs, such as stop signs, are removed.
If caught and prosecuted, the thieves could face third-degree misdemeanor charges, or worse if someone is hurt or killed due to the sign’s removal.
Cost to replace the signs are about $200 to $250 each, he said.
