State Championship Live Blog: South Range 53, Ironton 27. Final.

In the Division V state championship football game, South Range (15-0) is set to take on Ironton (15-0).

The Fighting Tigers are searching for their third state championship while the Raiders are making their first title in program history.

Pregame: Ironton won the toss and deferred to the 2nd half. The Raiders will receive to start the game.

Huge third down play for South Range. Billy Skripac finds Shane Lindstrom for a 68-yard completion.

8:30 1st quarter: Billy Skripac keeps it himself for a 7-yard TD run and South Range strikes first. 7-0 Raiders with 8:30 left in the first quarter.

8:13 1st quarter: Ironton needs just one play as South Range bites on the play fake. Tayden Carpenter with a 66-yard TD pass ties the game 7-7 with 8:13 left in the 1st.

Could be the early makings of a good old fashioned Big 12 shootout…

5:05 1st quarter: South Range punts for the first time this morning and Ironton will take over at its own 33. 7-7 with 5:03 left in the 1st quarter.

4:15 1st quarter: Raiders defense forces a 3-and-out and will take over at their own 9-yard line.

1:35 1st quarter: Ironton goes for it on 4th-and-10 at the opposing 30 and the Raiders get the stop and take over on downs.

0:42 1st quarter: Despite pass interference on the Tigers, Skripac finds JD Crouse for a 40-yard TD pass. Raiders lead 14-7 with 0:42 left in the 1st quarter.

Kicking off from the opposing 40 after penalties, South Range tries an onsides kick but Ironton recovers.

End of the 1st quarter. South Range 14, Ironton 7.

First play of the 2nd quarter and the Raiders recover an Ironton fumble.

11:14 2nd quarter: It’s the Billy Skripac show. He keeps it for a 5-yard TD run and the Raiders extend their lead to 20-7 with 11:14 left in the 1st half after a missed PAT. Skripac is 7-for-12 for 187 yards and a TD pass with 2 TD runs.

9:00 2nd quarter: South Range blocks an Ironton punt and recovers at the Tigers’ 7-yard line. WOW. Next play, Who else but Skripac again? 7-yard TD run and this one is all Raiders right now. 26-7 South Range after another missed PAT.

5:19 2nd quarter: On 4th down, Ironton responds with a 31-yard TD pass from Tayden Carpenter to Ty Perkins. Tigers march 87 yards in 3:28. They needed that badly to stop the bleeding.

3:07 2nd quarter: Raiders getting the run game going with Blake Ewert. Couple chunk runs on outside zone and they’re in business again. Then, a 31-yard TD run by Ewert. 3 carries for 57 yds for him on the drive. After a penalty & failed 2-point try, South Range leads 32-14 with 3:13 till half.

2:06 2nd quarter: Penalties starting to add up for the Tigers. Six for 57 yards so far and now face 2nd and 37.

Halftime: Raiders looked like they might score again before the half, but a holding penalty and sack kills the drive as time expires. South Range 32, Ironton 14 at halftime.

Billy Skripac was phenomenal in the first half. 9-for-17 for 232 yards and one passing TD to go with 3 rushing TDs. Raiders offense averaging 10.1 yards per play. Efficient!

First drive of the 2nd half. Ironton gets into Raider territory, but South Range forces and recovers a fumble. After a review by the officials, it’s ruled an incomplete pass. Tigers retain possession.

9:51 3rd quarter: South Range stuffs Ironton on 4th down and takes over on downs.

8:37 3rd quarter: South Range drops a 1st down catch on 4th down and turns it over on downs. 8:46 left in the 3rd.

6:01 3rd quarter: What a play by Shane Lindstrom. He breaks 3 or 4 tackles on a 65-yard catch-and-run TD reception from Billy Skripac. South Range leads 39-14 with 6:01 left in the 3rd quarter.

4:46 3rd quarter: Ironton goes right down the field, 67 yards in 4 plays. Amari Felder with a 7-yd TD reception from Tayden Carpenter. South Range 39, Ironton 21.

1:52 3rd quarter: Raiders in business again. Couple first downs to cross midfield. Outside zone run has been money so far.

End of the 3rd quarter. Raiders are 12 minutes away from their first state championship in school history. South Range 39, Ironton 21 and Raiders driving with the ball.

7:57 4th quarter: South Range piling on now. On 4th down, Skripac finds Dean DePizzo for an 8-yard TD catch and the Raiders lead the Tigers 46-21 with 7:57 left in the game.

3:29 4th quarter: Ironton refusing to go away quietly. A 27-yard TD pass with 3:29 left makes it 46-27 Raiders.

Frustration settling in for Ironton with a pair of unsportsmanlike conduct penalties on a failed onsides kick.

1:45 4th quarter: Aidan Dominguez completes the Raiders coronation with a 3-yard TD run. South Range leads 53-27 with 1:45 left.

Final: After an Ironton interception, South Range kneels it out. The Raiders win their first football state championship in school history, dominating the Tigers 53-27.
