Vance-DeSantis rally moved to Liberty

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis

LIBERTY — Organizers of an Aug. 19 rally for J.D. Vance, the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate, and headlined by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, announced today that the event will be held at the Metroplex Expo Center in Liberty.

Turning Point Action, a politically conservative organization that is planning DeSantis rallies, had initially announced the event would be at Blue Wolf Events at the Maronite Center in Youngstown even though the facility told them Aug. 19 wasn’t available.

That’s because the St. Maron Maronite Catholic Church is using the entire facility that weekend for its annual festival, said Joe Rzonsa, who owns Blue Wolf. Turning Point had initially asked about this Friday for the rally, which would have worked, Rzonsa said.

Turning Point then contacted a few venues Tuesday, including the Eastwood Event Centre in Niles, and announced today the rally would be at the Metroplex.

Free tickets are available at tpaction.com/DeSantis.

The doors will open at 6 p.m. Aug. 19 with Vance speaking at 7:30 p.m. followed by DeSantis at 7:50 p.m.

Turning Point had announced Monday that DeSantis, considered a leading potential 2024 presidential candidate, would appear this Sunday at specific locations in New Mexico and Arizona and on Aug. 19 at specific facilities in Pittsburgh and Youngstown.

Today, Turning Point announced the New Mexico event was “canceled due to scheduling conflicts” and changed the venues for the rallies in Arizona, Pittsburgh and Youngstown area.
