Youngstown man sentenced to three to four years for shooting woman

YOUNGSTOWN — Jabraylen R. Ifft, 23, of West Judson Avenue, was sentenced to three to four years in prison today for shooting his girlfriend in the stomach Aug. 12. 2021, at a home on Saranac Avenue on the North Side.

Ifft pleaded guilty to felonious assault and a gun specification in April before Judge Maureen Sweeney of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, and the parties agreed to recommend a sentence of eight to 10 1/2 years in prison.

But the victim later advised prosecutors that she no longer remembers the incident that resulted in her gunshot wound — and does not remember who shot her.

Assistant Prosecutor Kevin Day told Sweeney that prosecutors and the defense then reached a new recommended sentence of three to four years in prison, which Sweeney approved later in the hearing.
