Former bus aide convicted of assault of developmentally disabled student
YOUNGSTOWN — Patricia A. Bennett, 59, was convicted today of a felony assault involving a student on the bus where she worked at the Leonard Kirtz School in Austintown.
The school is run by the Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
Bennett, of Warren, also was convicted of misdemeanor child endangering of the developmentally disabled student and misdemeanor falsification. The verdict was read at the end of a day of testimony in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
The student was not physically injured, but his parents filed suit over the Jan. 6, 2020, incident, seeking damages for the pain and suffering the suit says the boy experienced.
