Timken announces chairs for all 88 counties
Jane Timken, a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, today announced committee chairs for all of Ohio’s 88 counties.
A former Ohio Republican Party chairwoman, Timken is the first Senate candidate with chairs in every county. Overall, she has 108 county chairs with some counties having more than one.
Among them are 14 county Republican Party chairmen and women including Mahoning County GOP Chairman Thomas McCabe and Columbiana County Chairman Dave Johnson.
Joining Johnson as co-chairman of Timken’s campaign in Columbiana County is state Sen. Michael Rulli, R-Salem, whose district includes Mahoning and Columbiana counties.
State Rep. Mike Loychik, R-Bazetta, an early supporter of Timken, was named her Trumbull County chairman.
“I am proud to have the support of so many conservative warriors and have boots on the ground in all 88 counties in Ohio,” Timken said. “Over the last five years, I fought in the trenches alongside these leaders to advance Ohio values, elect Republicans up and down the ballot and deliver a resounding victory for President (Donald) Trump.”
She added: “Now, we are applying that same grit and determination to my race for the United States Senate because this race is too important and the future of our country is at stake.”
The county chairs will help organize outreach and voter contact efforts in their counties.
Among the other chairs is Melissa Pope, the 32nd District’s state central committeewoman, in Ashtabula. The 32nd District includes all of Trumbull and Ashtabula counties and a portion of Geauga County.
Geauga County Chairwoman Nancy McArthur is Timken’s chairwoman in that county.
Other declared Republican candidates for the Senate seat include former state Treasurer Josh Mandel, and businessmen Bernie Moreno and Mike Gibbons.
The only declared Democrat for the Senate seat is U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Howland.
