YOUNGSTOWN — A 13-year-old girl was wounded in the leg during a drive-by shooting early this morning at a home in the 800 block of East Avondale Avenue on the South Side. The girl is listed in stable condition at an area hospital.

Youngstown police said after being alerted to the 2 a.m. shooting, an officer saw a white vehicle matching the description of the vehicle involved in the shooting leave the area. Police stopped the vehicle at Interstate 680 and South Avenue.

Two juvenile males and an adult female inside the vehicle were taken to the Youngstown Police Department for questioning. The boys were taken to the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center, and the woman was taken to the Mahoning County jail. Their names and ages have not been released.

Youngstown prosecutors will review the matter with police detectives before a determination is made on possible charges, the Youngstown Police Department stated in a news release.
