UPDATE: Body found in Japan confirmed as missing Hubbard man

Trevor Balint of Hubbard went missing in Japan Feb. 1.

The body of a man found unresponsive early this morning on Yokota Air Base in Japan has been confirmed by family members as missing Trevor Balint, 34, of Hubbard.

A news release from the Japanese base did not yet release the identity of the body; however, WFMJ Channel 21 has confirmed the man’s ID with family members.

The man was pronounced dead by medical personnel who arrived on scene.

The cause of death and the circumstances of this incident are currently under investigation.

The news release said more information will be released when available.

Balint, who is a teacher at the civilian elementary school on the U.S. air base, has been missing since Feb. 1. His wife Britini, along with her mother Denise Mott of Brookfield, have been in Japan helping authorities with the search. An attempt to contact Mott has not been successful.

Messages seeking details were left this morning with Balint’s family and with U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan’s office, who has been involved in talks about attempts to locate Balint overseas.

This is a developing story. Check back here for updates, and read Wednesday’s Vindicator.
