The Pennsylvania State Patrol is reporting that traffic is backed up in the eastbound lane of Interstate 80 due to the severity of winter snow this afternoon bringing ice and snow. The eastbound lane of I-80 is backed up with slow-moving traffic.
PennDOT temporarily reduced the speed limit on Interstate 80 for the entire length in Pennsylvania in Mercer and Venango counties. Speed restrictions are also in place for the entire length of Interstate 376 from Mercer County to Allegheny County.
Motorists are asked to avoid unnecessary travel but those who must head out will see speeds reduced to 45 mph.
The reduction is in place for the east and westbound lanes of I-80 and I-376. A spokesman with PSP said the westbound lane traffic is moving.
