YOUNGSTOWN – Detectives are investigating the city’s 22nd homicide which occurred just after midnight today in the 200 block of Salt Springs Road.

Patrol cruisers were called to the home about 12:16 a.m. for a shooting, according to a news release from Lt. Brian Welch of the Detective Division. Upon arrival, officers found a man who had been shot. He was declared dead at the scene and his body was taken to the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office, with identification pending the notification of relatives.

Detectives and the coroner’s office are investigating the shooting, the report states. A report said the victim was in his early 20s, and investigators said there were several children inside the home. None of the children were injured.
