Mon. 11 a.m.: UPDATE – Investigators seek public’s help in Struthers fatal shooting

STRUTHERS – Ohio’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation has joined the investigation into an overnight shooting inside a Struthers home that left a 4-year-old child dead and four other people injured.

The child died in his mother’s arms inside a home at 111 Perry St., according to a statement released by Struthers police Chief Tim Roddy.

The shooting occurred just before 2 a.m. when a man entered the residence and shot four adults and the child. Police swarmed the scene on Perry Street. Police said the victims told them they did not know the gunman.

The four adults were transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. All four adult victims are in their 20s and are friends. The two men face life-threatening injuries and the two women are in critical care. One of the women is the mother of the boy who was killed, but no identities have not yet been released.

Victims described the shooter as a young, light-skinned black male. Police are seeking the public’s help in solving the crime.
