Catholic diocese continues suspension of Masses through May

YOUNGSTOWN – The Catholic Bishops of Ohio are extending temporary suspension of all publicly celebrated Masses and liturgies through May 29, in conjunction with Gov. Mike DeWine’s strategy to reopen Ohio after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Youngstown Catholic Diocese announced today its hopes to publicly celebrate the Solemnity of Pentecost on the weekend of May 30 and 31.

Bishop George V. Murry, S.J., once again, dispenses the Catholic faithful who reside in the Diocese of Youngstown and all other Catholics currently in this territory from the obligation of attending Sunday Mass during this time, the diocese announced.

In coming weeks, personnel of the Diocese of Youngstown will be working to consider “reasonable, gradual and responsible initiatives for welcoming back the faithful to Sunday Mass,” the diocese announced in a media release.

Starting at $3.23/week.
