HANDS OF HEALING: The Nurse Honor Guard of Eastern Ohio will host Hands of Healing in a Time of War at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Warren Heritage Center/Kinsman House, 303 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren. The event is a tribute to the nurse veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan. Speakers include a nurse veteran who served on the USNS Comforter.
WASTE COLLECTION: A household hazardous waste collection will be provided 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Canfield Fairgrounds, state Route 46, Gate 9, for Mahoning County households only. No business collections will be permitted.
Various items will be accepted. Items not accepted are explosives, pharmaceuticals and latex paint. There will be a five-gallon limit on all containers. Collection and dropoff items will be based on last name. Last names A-G will be welcome from 9 to 11 a.m, G-N from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and O-Z from 1 to 3 p.m. For information, call 330-740-2060.
FOOD FEST: Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church, 401 12th St., Campbell, will host a Greek food fest noon to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. There will be a variety of Greek food and pastries, games for children, and cultural and religious items for sale. For information, call 330-755-9072.
SKATE PARK: The Youngstown Skate Park Association and the Youngstown Parks and Recreation Department will have a pop-up skate park 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Glewnood Community Park, 2538 Glewnood Ave., Youngstown. The free community-focused event will temporarily transform a portion of the city parks property into a skatepark and provide an opportunity for action sports opportunities to neighborhoods throughout the Youngstown area. Helmets are mandatory for those under age 18.
TRASH/TREASURE SALE: Grace Lutheran Church, 162 S. Raccoon Road, Austintown, is having a trash and treasure sale 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. This is a large one-day sale. Sale items include clothes, household items, tools and antiques. The men's and women's groups of the church work together to put on the sale. The funds are used for major repair and improvement projects in the church. Some are used to help organizations in the community,
PINK RIBBON TEA: The 32nd annual Pink Ribbon Tea for Breast Cancer Survivors will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Oct. 13 at Waypoint in Canfield. The Junior League of the Mahoning Valley presents this event free to survivors to unite and celebrate all breast cancer survivors in the tri-county area. Senior Gift Officer of Mercy Health Gina Marinelli will emcee the event.
The luncheon will feature entertainment, guest speakers and vendors who will be on site to provide information about local breast cancer services. Breast cancer survivors may receive an invitation by calling Betty Cmil at 330-506-6979.

READER SERIES: Lit Youngstown's First Wednesday Reader Series will take place at 7 p.m. Oct. 7 downstairs in the Trophy Room of Westside Bowl in Youngstown. Featured poets will be Diane Kendig of Canton and Erica Manto Paulson of Cincinnati. An open mic will follow. American Sign Language interpretation will be provided.
