SPIDERS NEED LOVE: Pat Rydquist, a retired interpretive naturalist from Summit Metro Park, will share the lives and value of spiders in the hopes that others will appreciate their beauty and worth. The talk is at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Austintown Senior Center, 112 Westchester Drive, Austintown. Social time is at 6:30 p.m.
TEA PARTY: The Holborn Herb Growers Guild will have its annual tea party 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Lariccia Family Community Center at Boardman Park, 375 Boardman Poland Road. The annual celebration, organized by the Holborn Herb Growers Guild (founded in 1982 to promote herb knowledge and enjoyment), features herbal tea samplings and a tour of the summer kitchen herb gardens behind St. James Meeting Place. Guest speaker will be Jenny Wehr, owner of The Willows by Wehr, demonstrating floral design. A basket raffle and other giveaways will be featured. MODEL AIRCRAFT FUN FLY: The Mahoning Model Club is hosting its annual fly and swap meet 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Shaker Woods Field, 44337 County Line Road, Columbiana. The family-friendly free event includes food and drink available with donation and a 50-50 raffle. Bring a lawn chair and watch pilots put their model planes through various maneuvers.
SERVICE MEN FROM PUERTO RICO: Local historian Steffon Jones of Youngstown is seeking information from family members of service men from Puerto Rico who served in the Borinqueneers famed regiment during the Korean War.
