CANFIELD — South Range Athletic Director Donee Feren will not face his cancer diagnosis alone. The Raiders are rallying around the resident and district employee and recently used a boys basketball game against Boardman as a fundraiser at South Range Local High School.
Feren recently experienced a period of cancer remission until this latest setback in his battle with the disease.
“Donee is a staple in this community and nobody was about to let him navigate this alone. Our entire district collaborated in a short amount of time to organize the fundraiser. The way this community supports its fellow Raiders is a true reflection of what Raider Nation is made of,” South Range Superintendent Jarred Zapolnik said.
The district asked the community to “Pack the Gym” for various raffles to benefit the Feren family, including a 50 / 50 raffle, lottery tree and raffle baskets. Meanwhile, special edition “Feren’s Fanatics” t-shirts were sold community-wide to assist Feren in his continued cancer battle.
