Mayor honors fundraising efforts of two CHS girls
CANFIELD — Canfield High School senior Hadley Moser and sophomore Angelina Folsom were honored at the start of Canfield City Council on Nov. 5 for their efforts in raising funds for Salem Regional Hospital and the fight against breast cancer. Mayor Don Dragish proclaimed Nov. 5, 2025, as Hadley Moser and Angelina Folsom Day.
The two young ladies are members of the high school’s Teen Health and Medical Society Club. That club was formed after Nick Folsom, a CHS Class of 2024 graduate, took a class at Johns Hopkins University over the summer of 2023.
At the class, he learned about the national organization and decided to bring it to Canfield High School.
When he did, a junior by the name of Hadley Moser joined and served as the club’s first vice president. The two worked together to host a pickleball tournament fundraiser to benefit the cancer patients at Salem Regional Hospital. The two even talked the city into painting the pickleball courts pink for the tournament.
The first tournament was held, and Folsom and Moser were able to present a check to Salem Regional Hospital for roughly $8,000. At that time, it was mentioned the event should be an annual one, and Moser agreed. As the 2025 president of the club and with Angelina Folsom, Nick’s sister, serving as vice president, the 2025 event was a go.
On Sept. 14, the pickleball tournament was held for the second time and was well attended. When all was said and done, the event raised $10,280 to help breast cancer patients.
“We kept receiving checks after the event,” Moser said.
She said the Teen Health and Medical Society Club has grown to 50 members this year and the intent to keep the pickleball tournament going has already been agreed on. While Moser will be graduating and moving on, Folsom will be stepping up.
“I’ll be passing the torch to her,” Moser said.
Dragish had nothing but kind words for the girls and their parents.
“The efforts of Hadley and Angelina will have a positive and lasting impact on the lives of individuals suffering from breast cancer,” he said.
