MASQUERADE BALL: Inspiring Minds Youngstown will host its annual Masquerade Ball fundraiser 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Community Literacy Workforce and Cultural Center in Campbell. The masquerade ball will celebrate the past 10 years of Impact for Inspiring Minds Youngstown as well as the future of the organization and scholars. The event is the largest fundraiser and will include an awards recognition, auction, raffle and dinner buffet.
Earlier this year, Inspiring Minds Youngtown purchased its first permanent facility at 2110 South Ave., Youngstown. Funds raised for the ball will help renovate and develop the new space to better serve Youngstown, For tickets or information, visit IMyoungstown.org.
GATHERING PLACE: A Gathering Place event will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 13 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 550 N. Broad St., Canfield. The speaker is Theresa Sanchez, director of nursing and grief recovery specialist for Youngstown City Health District , who will discuss “How to deal with a broken heart.” A box lunch will be provided. FALL FESTIVAL: Girard Free Library, 105 E. Prospect St. will host a fall festival 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday for children up to age 12. There will be pumpkin painting, archery and games. To register, call 330-545-2508.
DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: The Girard Free Library is offering a new Dungeons & Dragons group at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The Dungeon Master will guide participants through their first steps so even someone new to the game can participate. Register at the library.
BOOK SALE: Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive, Boardman, will host its annual used book sale 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday to Friday. Proceeds from the book sale will help the church with its missions outreach projects. On Thursday, all paperback books will be 25 cents. On Friday, books will be half off and then after 4 p.m. they will be $1 per bag.
NIGHT OF THE DEAD: Modern Methods Brewing Company,125 David Grohl Alley, Warren, will host Night of the Figggin Dead 6 to 11 p.m. Friday. The event will feature scenes from “Night of the Living Dead,” live drama performance and music. There will be a zombie glam station, and a fig and zombie inspired menu.
