Weathersfield hosts festival

FLAG DAY FESTIVAL: The Weathersfield Flag Day Festival will be held Thursday through Saturday at the township park, 3750 S. Main St. (Route 46). The festival will include live music, food concessions, carnival games, vendors, rides and bocce.

Festival hours are 5 to 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday.

A parade will be held 6 p.m. Friday, the Rumble in the Ridge Car show 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, and the Addison Beard scholarship color run at 10 a.m.

CLEAR VIEW RECOGNITION: Sight for All United will host its first annual volunteer recognition to celebrate the dedication and impact of its Vision Volunteers 11 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, 201 Wick Ave., Youngstown. The Vision Volunteers program, which officially launched in January with the crucial support of an AmeriCorps member, has quickly become an indispensable part of Sight for All United’s mission. Since its inception, over 20 dedicated volunteers have collectively contributed 200 hours of service, translating to a cost savings of approximately $7,000 for the organization.

This recognition event will highlight the volunteers’ contributions and provide an opportunity for community members to learn more about the Vision Volunteers program and Sight for All United’s ongoing initiatives to help people access quality vision care.
