AUSTINTOWN — Program at 9 a.m. Friday at the Austin Log Cabin, 3787 S. Raccoon Road. Guest speaker will be Sam Swoger from American Legion Post 301 and the Austintown 9/11 Memorial Committee. The parade begins at noon at the intersection of Raccoon and Kirk roads and travels along Raccoon Road, ending at Austintown Middle School. This year’s theme is “Freedom Shines in Every Wave and Smile.” The grand marshal is Christopher Wetzel. The parade will include a designated “Quiet Zone,” offering a sensory-friendly viewing area for children and families.

Austintown Baptist Church, 1180 S. Raccoon Road, is inviting the public to sit on the church lawn to watch the township’s July 4 parade. Free hot dogs, snow cones, cotton candy and other treats will be available at the church 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

CANFIELD — Firecracker 4-mile run kids race will begin at 8:15 a.m. Friday and the adult race will begin at 8:30 a.m. at 21 S. Broad St. Awards will be given in various age groups.

Pre-parade performance from the Canfield Community Band begins at 8:45 a.m. and children’s bicycle parade judging will be at 9:30 a.m. at Gate 5 of the fairgrounds.

The parade leaves the fairgrounds at 10:10 a.m. After the parade, Backbeat Band will perform at noon, and there will be an awards presentation and children’s games on the North Green.

STRUTHERS — Parade begins at noon Friday starting at Struthers Plaza (corner of 5th and Rita).

YOUNGSTOWN — Celebrations will include the induction of five local boxing legends to the Youngstown Walk of Fame at 5 p.m. at Wean Park. There will be food trucks and live musical performances from many local bands near the Youngstown Sign. Live music starts at 6 p.m. and the fireworks start at dark.

Trumbull County

GUSTAVUS — The 4th of July Homecoming at township park starts at 10 a.m. with the parade kicking off at state Routes 193 and 87. Events after the parade include food, tot king and queen contest, kids’ tractor pull, turtle races (bring your own turtle), bounce house, cornhole tournament and children’s games.

HOWLAND — Parade starts at 10 a.m. Friday traveling from Hunter Square Plaza and heading west on East Market Street and ending at Howland High School. Activities and food vendors will be set up by the high school. The theme is America 250.

MESOPOTAMIA — The annual ox roast will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday at Mesopotamia Center at the intersection of state Routes 87 and 534. There will be more than 160 dealers and live entertainment with the famous ox roast sandwiches. Parking is at the fire station

NEWTON FALLS — There will be a festival each evening Monday to Thursday at the city park. The parade will be at 10 a.m. Friday starting at First Church of God on West Broad Street. Fireworks will be at 10 p.m. at city park and the festival ends at 11 p.m.

NILES — The parade begins at 11 a.m. Friday in downtown Niles. Participants entering a float should line up at McKinley High School starting at 10 a.m. Spectators are advised to line up on the sidewalks on Main Street, from Federal to State streets. There also will be a car show and craft fair at 11 a.m. at the Niles Senior Center. There will be food, music, vendors and activities for the kids.
