WEAVERS GUILDS COMBINE: The Youngstown Area Weavers Guild and the East Ohio Weavers Guild are joining to form the Youngstown East Ohio Weavers Guild. The guild will serve Trumbull, Mahoning, Columbiana, Summit and Lawrence counties and will be centrally meeting in Canfield. The group will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Canfield library. The Youngstown East Ohio Weavers Guild is a nonprofit organization of active fiber artists who enjoy learning and experimenting with fibers.
The main function of the guild is to promote and support its members, enabling them to express their creativity in weaving and to broaden the awareness of fiber art in the community. Offered are programs, lectures and guest artist workshops in weaving, spinning basketry techniques, natural dyes, felting and other fiber-related arts.
SOCIETY TO MEET: The Mahoning Valley Archeological Society welcomes everyone to a free event from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Beard Cabin in Boardman Park.
A discussion will be held concerning the Ashtabula point, which is one of the most uncommon Ohio point types found in Northeastern Ohio near Lake Erie.
Artifacts will be on display.
ABWA TO MEET: The May 13 meeting of Mill Creek Chapter American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) will take place at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. Networking will begin at 6 p.m. with dinner at 6:30. The price is $19. Reservations may be made by calling Marilyn at 330-726-2527 or Darlene at 330-755-9089 by Wednesday. The speaker for the evening will be CEO of Help Network, Vince Brancaccio. The public is welcome.
