QUARTER AUCTION: ACLD School and Learning Center is sponsoring its fourth annual quarter auction Saturday at the St. Luke’s Banquet Hall in Boardman. Doors open at 5 p.m. Tthe event will support the needs of children in the community who struggle in school.

For over 50 years, ACLD’s specialized, child-centered approach has benefited thousands of local children and families who have faced challenges such as learning disabilities, autism, ADHD and other obstacles to learning.

REMOVING DECORATIONS: Canfield city requests that all decorations be retrieved from Canfield cemeteries by March 15. Any decorations left after that date will be thrown away.

GUEST SPEAKER: Adam Blai, theological expert on religious demonology and exorcism, will present “Our Catholic Faith: The Best Defense Against the Demonic” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica Social Hall, 343 Via Mt. Carmel, Youngstown. The event is free, but reservations are requested by calling 330-743-3508.

The lecture explores a controversial topic: the existence of evil spirits, also known as demons (and simultaneously, good spirits, or angels). Blai, a theological expert on demonology and exorcism who works with the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh, will testify about all the possessions, exorcisms and haunted houses he has witnessed.

PARANORMAL CONFERENCE: The second annual Mahoning Valley Paranormal Conference will be 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica Catechetical Center (past Social Hall), 343 Via Mt. Carmel, Youngstown.

The event and parking are free, but reservations are requested by calling or texting 330-518-3677. Presented by Youngstown Paranormal Investigations, this second annual conference will expound on all topics of the paranormal with the main topic, “The Reality of Angels, Demons and Spirits.” Host is the Very Rev. Monsignor Michael Cariglio, and guest is Liz Khumprakob, who will talk about the famous Franklin Castle ghost video.

CEMETERY CLEANUP: The Lake Park Cemetery Association will start its annual spring cleanup March 15, including the removal of artificial decorations. Those who want to keep decorations need to remove them from graves by March 15. The cemetery is located at 1459 E. Midlothian Blvd, Youngstown.

GATHERING PLACE: The Gathering Place will meet at 11 a.m. March 11 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 550 N. Broad St., Canfield. Jane McMurchy will speak on Mahoning Valley Animal Charity. A boxed lunch will be provided. This is a free outreach offered to senior citizens. Call 330-533-3531 with questions.

LEPRECHAUN HUNT: The Friends of the Girard Free Library is offering a St. Patrick’s leprechaun scavenger hunt through Girard on March 7-10. Leprechauns are hidden throughout the city. Participants should take a photo next to any leprechauns they find. Clues will be available at the library. The winner will be announced at the library’s St. Patrick’s Day party at 6 p.m. March 14.

MAR10 DAY: The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown is offering “Mar10 Day” for ages 5 and older from 2 to 4 p.m. March 10 at the JCC, 505 Gypsy Lane. Participants will enjoy Mar10-themed activities and crafts, have a snack and receive some swag. Those ages 8 and up can play Mario Kart or Mario Party in the JCC’s esports arena.

“EGG MY YARD”: Mahoning County residents are invited to participate in “Egg My Yard” and wake up Easter morning to a yard full of candy and toy-stuffed eggs from the Easter Bunny. Cost is $20 for 25 eggs, $40 for 50 eggs, $50 for 75 eggs or $60 for 100 eggs.
