YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Soil & Water Conservation District will welcome two new members to its board of supervisors in January, following the results of recent elections.

Matthew P. Monus of Boardman and Dr. Fred Owens of Austintown will join the board Jan. 1 for three-year terms. They were the winners among three candidates running for the two available seats being vacated by Jim Milligan and Richard Scarsella.

Milligan has served on the board since Jan. 1, 2020, and Scarsella has been on the board since 2008, according to SWCD administrator Kathleen Vrable-Bryan.

The Mahoning County Soil & Water Conservation District advances best management practices for conserving land and water resources by providing education, technical assistance and stewardship. The District is governed by a five-member volunteer board of supervisors and maintains offices at 850 Industrial Road in Youngstown.
