Distance visit with Santa

TALK FROM YOUR CAR: The Western Reserve Joint Fire District and the Poland Firemen’s Association is hosting its annual holiday celebration event, but with a pandemic twist. Rather than their annual pancake breakfast with Santa, the fire department is inviting the community to drive through their engine truck bay for the chance to talk to Santa — at a safe distance. Families can come to Poland Fire Station 92, 7619 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday where they will have the chance not only to talk to Santa, but also enter to win gifts, visit with Sparky and Blaze the fire dogs, see the Poland fire equipment and enter a 50/50 raffle.

Children are encouraged to bring their wish list for Santa so that he can send them a customized letter before the holiday arrives.

Guests must remain in their vehicles and the event is by donation. Masks also are required. More information can be found on the Poland Fire District Facebook page @PolandFireDistrict.

PANTRY DONATIONS NEEDED: D.E.L. Lift Rentals and Sales is raising awareness, as well as monetary donations, to benefit the food pantry in Springfield Township.

The pantry serves about 70 families in the community and is finding that number consistently rising throughout this pandemic.

D.E.L. will be taking fliers around to all the businesses in Springfield Township to help raise awareness. It is asking donations be made to STCCC Food Pantry and sent to STCCC, c/o Freedom Church, P.O. Box 426, New Middetown, OH 44442.
