County veterans can call for help

VETERANS SERVICE COMMISSION CLOSED: Effective today, the Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission will be closed to the public until further notice. All appointments will be conducted by telephone.

Documents may be mailed, emailed, faxed or dropped off at the secure drop-off box at Entrance A. The fax number is 330-788-3501 or 330-740-2453, and the phone number 330-740-2450.

TOY DRIVE: The Ancient Order of Hibernians and Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians will hold a toy drive 3 to 7 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the AOH hall, 5110 Southern Blvd., Boardman.

New, unwrapped toys for all ages are needed and will be going to Sojourner House. They have asked for toys for older kids, as well as for the St. Vincent DePaul Society, which will have a Christmas party for families and will need gifts.

For every person who brings in a new, unwrapped toy, a voucher will be handed out for a free sandwich from Chick-Fil-A in the Southern Park Mall or Mission BBQ in Boardman, while supplies last.

HELPING HANDS: Helping Hands Closet at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, is open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Tuesday through December. Masks are required.
