Donate a pie to Rescue Mission

The seeing eye

CONTEST CANCELED: Due to the climbing number of positive COVID-19 cases in Mahoning County, Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley canceled the 2020 Bakers to the Rescue Apple Pie Contest at the shelter.

Anyone who would still like to gift a pie to the mission, its box truck will be parked in front of the shelter. Donors can leave the pies there for kitchen staff to retrieve and serve to clients.

MISSION WISH FOR GIVING TUESDAY: The Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley has set a big goal this year for #GivingTuesday, which is Dec. 1 — raise in one day enough money to provide 10 new wardrobes in which clients can store their belongings in the new facility.

For the #SupplyOurShelter campaign, there is a total need of 185 new wardrobes, with each unit costing $1,454.34. Ten new wardrobes in 24 hours would take $14,543.40. Each wardrobe includes adjustable shelves, coat / towel hooks with a clothing bar, and a secure lock.

Each year on #GivingTuesday, nonprofit organizations rally their supporters for a day of maximum giving.
