40 DAYS OF LIFE: Former Planned Parenthood manager and current 40 Days for Life Director of Outreach Sue Thayer will share her story of transformation in Youngstown on Tuesday. Thayer will speak at the 40 Days of Life kickoff 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Planned Parenthood, 77 E. Midlothian Blvd., Youngstown. Youngstown is one of 588 communities around the world conducting simultaneous 40 Days for Life campaigns from Sept. 23 through Nov. 1.

40 Days for Life is an intensive campaign that focuses on 40 days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion, peaceful vigil at abortion facilities and grassroots educational outreach.

NEW MINISTER: Northeast Christian Church, 865 Perkins Jones Road, Warren, welcomed new pastor Cole Sagstetter, who began serving the congregation Aug. 30. Cole and his wife Katie met while leading short-term mission trips on the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming. They have been serving the Lord together ever since and now do so with their toddler, James. Cole has been serving in ministry since 2012 as a youth minister and has followed God’s calling to continue in ministry at the church.

ELEVATED: The Right Rev. Gerald D. Gammon was elevated to the office of bishop. Consecration took place in Louisville, Ky., on Aug. 23. Gammon, of the Charismatic Old Catholic Church, has served as a priest for over eight years. He also serves as pastor of the First United Church of Christ, 280 E. Market St., Warren.

The Old Catholic Church is not part of the Roman Catholic Church. Though the churches are similar in structure and in beliefs, they differ on some key issues. Clergy can marry in the Old Catholic Church and women are permitted to be ordained.

METAPHYSICS: Unity Spiritual Centre’s ongoing metaphysics classes will be on Tuesdays. CHURCH HOLDS TENT REVIVAL: Austintown Baptist Church, 1180 S. Raccoon Road, will hold outdoor tent revival services 6 p.m. nightly Sunday to Thursday. There will be music and inspirational messages.

Speakers are the Rev. Kevin Crum on Sunday, the Rev. Mark Parks on Monday, the Rev. Chuck Homa on Tuesday, the Rev. Gary Frost on Wednesday and the Rev. Rafael Cruz Jr. on Thursday.

REDEDICATION CEMETERY: A rededication of the restored original Corner House Church cemetery, 6954 Chestnut Ridge Road, Hubbard, will take place after the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday.

The labor of love was completed by volunteers offering their time, money, skills, resources and equipment.

There are at least 16 veterans from the nation’s early history and many of the area’s early settlers, including the Hall family who donated the land in the cemetery.

CHURCH DONATES BACKPACKS: Abundant Grace Fellowship Church donated 155 backpacks to Currie Elementary School students in kindergarten to second grade in Fowler. The backpacks were filled with school supplies.

Pastor Mike Nicholson, who is also a chaplain in the Army National Guard, and members of the congregation filled the backpacks.

AVENGER HUNGER MONTH: Breaking Bread will hold the third annual Avenge Hunger Month Monday to Oct. 4 to help food pantries in local communities. In 2019, the event collected 41,616 pounds of food and $12,264 in cash. Near 200 community feeding programs received resources.
