SCIENCE OF BREWING: OH WOW! The Roger and Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science and Technology in Youngstown will host the ninth annual Science of Brewing Aug. 7. The event, which will be streamed online, is the largest fundraiser of the year for OH WOW! and supports OH WOW! EDUtaining programs. The event will include educational demonstrations, micro-brews, wine and meade by local breweries and vintners, and an auction featuring events at OH WOW in 2021.

ALUMNI HOLD PURSE BINGO: The Girard Alumni Association is hosting a virtual purse bingo online Saturday with drawings of 12 designer purses. The event will include a basket raffle with many themed baskets. Cost is $30 per ticket with each participant deciding where tickets will be placed for selected designer purses. More tickets can be purchased at $10 each if individuals wish to do so. Proceeds will support all sports teams of the Girard school district throughout the year. Participants will be asked to be at home 7 p.m. Saturday so they can be contacted if they are a winner. Prizes can be picked up 2 p.m. Sunday at the door of the Girard High School gymnasium.

WOMEN’S SUFFRAGATES: The Ohio Humanities will present a free Women’s Suffragate Zoom meeting 2 p.m Saturday to commemorate the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote and learn about the role of women’s fashions during the Suffragate Movement. The free virtual program will be led by Dr. Einav Rabonovitch- Fox who specializes in modern American history and women’s and gender history. Because of public health concerns, this presentation will take place on Zoom.
