City pools, parks still out of service

SOME PARKS ACTIVITIES REMAIN CLOSED: In a continued effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and prepare for a safe reopening, the Youngstown Department of Parks and Recreation has announced the following list of activities and programs will remain closed and canceled until further notice: parks pavilion rentals are canceled; parks outdoor pavilions / restrooms closed; Northside Pool and splash pads closed; Eugenia Atkinson Recreation Center and Henry Stambaugh Golf Course, closed; playgrounds and playgrounds equipment, closed; and basketball courts and workout equipment at all city parks, closed.

Walking trails remain open using social distancing guidelines. Officials noted efforts are being made to open activities responsibly that meet social distancing guidelines and approval of the Youngstown Health District. For information call the parks / recreation department at 330-742-8711.

LUMINARIA EVENT: The Mahoning County Relay for Life will host a drive-thru luminaria event 8 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Canfield Village Green. This is to remember those we have lost to cancer, in honor of cancer survivors, and in support of caregivers. To purchase luminaria for the event, visit relayforlife.org/ mahoningcountyoh.

A virtual vendor sip and shop with 15 vendors is hosting a fair from June 8-20 on Facebook. It is free to attend. The vendors are donating a portion of their proceeds back to the Mahoning County Relay for Life. There will be a reverse raffle. FOOD PANTRY: The Second Harvest Food Bank mobile pantry will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Liberty High School old building off Churchill Hubbard Road.
