Eastside group offers food help

FOOD GIVEAWAY: Eastside Crimewatch will hold a food giveaway 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the fire station at corner of Fruit and Oak streets. Those needing food are asked to bring identification and bags.

EVENT CANCELED: The Struthers Class of 1956 breakfast scheduled for May 2 at TJ’s Restaurant and Lounge in Boardman has been canceled.

REUNION MEETING CANCELED: The regular scheduled meeting of the Tri State Marine Corps League detachment 494 on May 5 and the reunion meeting on May 12 has been canceled.

AWARD PRESENTED: The Youngstown Foundation Charles W. Darling Family Endowment Fund has awarded Lit Youngstown a programming grant of $5,615. The grant will support programs in 2020-21, including the First Wednesday Readers Series, Monday Teen Writing Workshops, adult teen creative writing classes and paid student internship to provide staff support for fall literacy festival.

Lit Youngstown is a nonprofit dedicated to the literary arts. Charles W. Darling was a Youngstown State University history professor known for his folk music show on WYSU-FM that aired for 48 years and was also the author of science fiction novels.
