Veterans to be honored on poles

BANNERS IN BERLIN: The Berlin Center Historical Society, with the cooperation of Berlin Township and the Berlin Ellsworth Ruritans, will be offering military banners to honor loved ones who served or are serving in the military. Residents may purchase a military banner that will be displayed from Memorial Day until Veterans Day on the townships poles on State Routes 224 and 534. Also a smaller version of the banner will be displayed in Berlin Township building. The banner design will feature a loved one’s name, photograph, branch of service, years of service and the war or conflict in which he or she served. The honoree may be living or deceased and must have been or is a resident of Berlin Township.

A military photo is preferred as we will copy and return it to you. The photo may be in color or black and white. Each banner set will cost $100 and will hang for the life of the banner. The purchaser will also receive one smaller version and one banner that will be displayed in the Berlin Township building.

CLOSING SET: Yellow Brick Place, 2959 Canfield Road, Suites 3 and 10, Youngstown, will be closed through the remainder of March. In addition the Multiple Myeloma Group Support Meeting scheduled for todayat Denny’s on Belmont Avenue, Liberty, has also been canceled.

DECORATION REMOVAL: The caretaker at St. Stephen Cemetery in Niles has requested that all Christmas decorations be removed by March 29. Any that remain after that date will be discarded.

SOCIETY CANCELS EVENT: The Poland Historical Society meeting and program scheduled for this Tuesday has been canceled due to Coronavirus. The Historical Society license plate frames with Poland’s motto ” Proud Past, Promising Future” can now be purchased for $5 each at the Village Town Hall, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
