Seeing Eye: Charity brunch, fashion show set in Canfield

MEDICAL SOCIETY HOSTS EVENT: The 16th annual Mahoning County Medical Society Alliance charity brunch and fashion show to benefit the Midlothian Free Clinic and the Canine Campus Service Dog Program will be Feb. 21 at Waypoint 4180 Banquet Center, 4180 Westford Place, Canfield.

The Southern tea-themed event will begin with a social and raffle at 10 a.m., champagne brunch at 11 a.m. and fashion show at noon. The style show will be presented by Suzanne’s.

Alliance members and family will serve as models. Hair- styles will be from Macy’s Southern Park Mall. Music is being provided by Leanne Binder / Songmill Studio.

Cost is $40. Tickets can be obtained online at www.eventbrite.com, Mahoning County Medical Society fashion show brunch, a Southern tea, or by calling 330-360-1394 before Friday.

The alliance is a volunteer organization comprised of physician spouses who provide support to the community through health education, legislation, community service and fundraising.

MAKING DNA: The OH WOW! The Roger and Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science and Technology in Youngstown will present “Make DNA” noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. Participants can extract DNA using items found in the kitchen.

CHOFFIN OPEN HOUSE: Choffin Career and Technical Center will host an open house 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the campus, 200 E. Wood St., Youngstown. In celebration of national Career and Technical Education Month, prospective parents of students and students interested in attending Choffin are invited to visit the center to connect with instructors and learn more about the career and technical education programs offered.

During the open house, sophomores will have the opportunity to fill out 2020-21 registration forms on site with the assistance of Choffin admissions staff.

BOOK RELEASE: All American Cards and Comics, 52 Boardman Canfield Road, Boardman, will host a book release from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday for Vesenia Lindsey. She is an illustrator, designer and author and the creator of the manga-styled comic book “Celestial Pulse,” a Youngstown-created series. It is the eighth issue.

Celestial Pulse is a modern fantasy about a young woman who is suffering from recurring dreams about a man trying to kill her. One day, she is confronted by the man. Now she is faced with unraveling mysteries of the past hoping she can discovery who this man is and why he is trying to kill her.

SOUTH HIGH 1965: South High School Class of 1965 will hold its monthly luncheon 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Davidson’s Restaurant, 3636 Canfield Road, Canfield. All classmates and friends are welcome.
