Historical Society to mark Leap Day

TROLLEY TOUR: The Salem Historical Society will offer a special Underground Railroad tour to celebrate “Leap Year Day” 11 a.m. Saturday. The cost on the Quakertown Trolley will be reduced to $29 for two. Since the homes are private and entrance not possible, flashed on a screen inside the trolley will be slides to show pictures of the insides of the homes, Underground Railroad hiding places and several abolitionists who lived in or visited them. The slides will also help clarify the historical information presented during the program. The tour will last approximately an hour with loading at 239 S. Lundy St. and a minimum is necessary. Call 330-337-6733 to reserve seats.

ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING: The Natural Resources Citizens Advisory Committee to the Board of Park Commissioners of Mill Creek MetroParks will meet 5 p.m. today in Classroom A at the MetroParks Farm in Canfield.

SENIOR MENTAL HEALTH DISCUSSED: Liron David from Enosh, the Israeli Mental Health Association, will discuss mental health issues among older adults in Israel and the global changes toward the rights of the elderly at a noon luncheon event on Tuesday at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, 505 Gypsy Lane, Youngstown. Earlier that day, she will meet with representatives from Trumbull and Mahoning Mental Health and Recovery Boards, Adult Protective Services of Mahoning County, Area Agency on Aging, and Help Network. The purpose of the lunch meeting is to come together to have a discussion about seniors and mental health services, barriers and services that are and are not working in the community.
