Walnut Grove phase completed

FIELD OF OPPORTUNITY: The Walnut Grove Field of Opportunity is a fully accessible 20-acre outdoor recreation facility in Canfield where all individuals of all abilities can feel safe to learn, play and relax. The second phase of the project was completed and includes an inclusive playground. The fourth annual Swing, Wine and Dine fundraiser to raise money for the facility improvements and operating expenses will be5:30 to 10 p.m. Feb. 1 at the Maronite Center in Youngstown. There will be a live and silent auction, musical entertainment, wine tasting, food, basket raffle and children’s art gallery. The nonprofit organization relies on community support and grant funding. Future plans are to include development of miracle fields, outdoor pavilions and restrooms.

CIVIL WAR ROUNDTABLE: Mercer County Historical Society will hold a Civil War roundtable Tuesday at 119 S. Pitts St., Mercer, Pa., for a program on Confederate General James Longstreet during the Civil War. Jim Carnes will moderate the program. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the program starts at 7 p.m. The Civil War discussion groups is part of the Mercer County Historical Society’s ongoing efforts to provide programming to local history.

COURT PROGRAM: The Gathering Place of Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 550 N. Broad St. Canfield, will have guest speaker Judge Robert Russu Jr. discuss wills and estate planning and probation court issues. Blood pressure checks will be provided free. For information call 330-533-3531.
