Library branch remains closed

DELAYED OPENING: The Michael Kusalaba Branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County will delay opening until 1 p.m. Tuesday while work is being done inside the building. The branch, located at 2815 Mahoning Ave., usually opens at 10 a.m. Regular hours will resume the following day. All other PLYMC libraries will be open at their regularly scheduled time on that day.

PARTNER VIOLENCE: Penn State Shenango will host a program, “Breaking the Silence,” from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. Wednesday in the campus’ Lecture Hall Gallery. The inaugural event is to unmask one of society’s secrets — intimate partner violence. The event will include a hands-on activity, speakers who will share their personal stories, information tables and refreshments. Agencies that will be in attendance include AWARE Inc. (Sharon), The Crisis Shelter (New Castle), Someplace Safe (Warren) and Sojourner House (Youngstown). For information, contact Student Affairs at 724-983-2836 or contact the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence at www.ncadv.org.

DONATION MADE: For the third consecutive year, Grace Church of Columbiana presented a $1,000 donation to the Salem Regional Medical Center Foundation. The gift represents a portion of the proceeds from the church’s annual chicken barbecue and will be used by the Foundation to benefit SRMC’s world-class cancer services. This is the 43rd year the church has supported local charities through its fundraising project. The foundation raises funds to support patient services and programs at Salem Regional Medical Center, with 100 percent of all proceeds used to benefit area patients. Area organizations interested in sponsoring a fundraiser or making a donation to benefit the foundation can call Amy Reed at 330-337-2883 or e-mail foundation@salemregionalcom.
