CHRISTMAS IN AUSTINTOWN: The Wickliffe Circle Christmas Committee will hold the 52nd annual Community Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday at the Wickcliffe Circle fire station, 4102 Mahoning Ave. Festivities begin at 6:45 p.m. with Christmas carol singalong provided by the Fitch High School Brass Band. The tree lighting will be 7 p.m. After the ceremony, Santa Claus arrives on a firetruck with a reception held with cookies, candy canes, hot chocolate and coffee free of charge.

NORTH JACKSON TREE LIGHTING: North Jackson Citizens Association will hold a community tree lighting 6 p.m. today at the township gazebo, 10613 Mahoning Ave. The Jackson Milton Band Ensemble, Gethsemane Lutheran Church Choir and Boy Scout Troop 105 will be among those participating.

SNOWFLAKE FESTIVAL: The East Palestine Town and Country Garden Club is planning is a Snowflake Festival for East Palestine 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. Activities planned include Breakfast with Santa 9 to 11 a.m. hosted by the Rotary, gingerbread contest held at the library, live nativity with animals at the Centenary Methodist Church, musical performances by the East Palestine High School music department, and caroling at the tree 6 p.m. with the Our Lady of Lourdes. There will be cookies and crafts with Santa from noon to 2 p.m. at the park. Horse and trolley rides from noon to 5 p.m. The day will end with the parade 7 p.m. hosted by the East Palestine Moose.

LIGHT THE VILLAGE: For the 11th consecutive year, Poland village will celebrate the Christmas season with Lighting of the Village starting at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 14. The free event is being sponsored by the Poland Junior Women’s Club and community organizations in Poland.

Activities will be held at the village hall and library. Activities will include holiday carols, cookies and cocoa, horse-drawn carriage rides, stories and crafts at the library. Santa will arrive by firetruck and the lighting of the village Christmas tree.
