Veterans group at Jackson Cemetery

WREATHS FOR VETERANS: There are over 300 veterans buried at the Jackson Cemetery. The Christmas Wreaths for Veterans program, which has wreaths placed on veterans’ graves, will be at the cemetery 10 a.m. Saturday. Each wreath is $10 with checks to be made payable to Jackson Township Citizens Association, P.O. Box 422, North Jackson, OH 44451.

WINTER CONCERT: The Boardman High School Choral Department, under the direction of Linda M. Smrek and her assistant, Laura Kotheimer, will present its annual Winter Concert 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Boardman Performing Arts Center.

Nearly 200 students in five choral groups will take the stage to present their “Glorious Memories” Concert. The five groups performing will be the freshman mixed chorus, the all-male Spartan Singers, upperclassman choir, all-female ensemble Boardman Singers and elite-performing Chorale. Alumni are invited to join the other 190 voices in singing “O Holy Night,” which has been a tradition since 1954. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $5. Senior citizen tickets are $4.

MAGIC WOODS: The D.D. and Velma Davis Education and Visitor Center will be adorned for the annual Winter Celebration event through Dec. 29. Admission is free. This year’s theme, “The Magical Woods,” is a magical land of fairy families throughout the Davis Center lobby and other mystical creatures in The Enchanted Hollow. Visitors also will be able to participate in a scavenger hunt and view seasonal flowers on display. The annual tree walk also will be on display throughout the Davis Center where more than 50 nonprofit organizations display their uniquely decorated trees. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Sunday.

Through Dec. 28, the gardens will be open until 7 p.m. for guests to experience Winter Nights featuring an outdoor light display. There also will be unicorn games and crafts along with live holiday music by local musicians.

GATHERING EVENT: The Gathering Place will meet 11 a.m. Monday at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 550 N. Broad St., Canfield. There will be a Christmas singalong. The free community outreach program is offered to all senior citizens on the second Monday of each month. There will be activities and games offered. For information, call 330-538-3323.

LUNCHEON PLANNED: Sacred Heart School Class of 1959 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Thanos Family Restaurant, 6620 Tippecanoe Road, Canfield. For directions, call the restaurant at 330-702-0300. Guests and others who attended Sacred Heart School are welcome.
